Jointly sponsored by Mercedes-Benz (China) Ltd. and sina.com, the smart Cube Online Design Competition features concepts of urban lifestyle, versatility and agility, eco-friendliness and safety.
With the aim to showcase innovative flair of young talents and their cutting-edge thoughts, the participants were required to design within the parameters of the 3 m×3m×3 m cubic space.
From September 22, 2008 to January 16, 2009, the competition received 461 professional designs and 2,722 free-style graffiti designs from amateur designers, attracting online page view as high as 91,525,391. The participants expressed their inner artistic impulses, and escaped from the hustle and bustle of their daily lives into smart cube where they embraced the smart lifestyle.
On April 8, 2009, the top 10 winning works in actual size were exhibited at the smart China launch party. Each of them demonstrated designers'unique thoughts on smart brand and space, highlighting the themes of the competition, like urban life, green environment, and joy of life.
smart not only embodies the value of Mercedes-Benz, but also exudes the unique personality of the smart brand. It has left an indelible mark in our global urban environments by virtue of its stylish appearance, versatility, excellent safety and outstanding environmental performance. Like the competition, it also intends to convey the concepts of active, self-confident, and green life styles.
